- 750 ml bottle of red wine
- 150 ml unsweetened apple juice
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1 orange
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 cloves
- 2 star anise
Directions
- In a large pot over medium heat, combine the wine and juice.
- Peel the orange and use your hands to squeeze the juice into the pot.
- Stir in the honey and add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Make sure to stir the mixture often.
- Strain the glühwein through a fine mesh sieve.
