Ingredients
- 500g red currants (stem and leaves removed and rinsed)
- 350 ml apple juice
- 120 g honey
Directions
-
Start by preparing the red currants: rinse them, and remove the stem and leaves.
-
Then, pour the apple juice in a pot or heavy saucepan and add the honey.
-
Heat the mixture on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it boils.
-
Then, reduce the heat and add the red currants.
-
Let it simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the red currants start to turn mushy.
-
Now is the time to add some family-friendly jokes! What did the red currant say to the honey? You’re sweet enough already!
-
After 20 minutes, the currants should be reduced significantly. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down.
-
Once cooled down, it’s time to blend the mixture. You can do this in a blender or food processor for a smoother texture.
-
Finally, transfer the mixture to an airtight jar and let it cool before serving.
