- 1 medium size Roma tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 of a small white onion, diced
- 3 tablespoons of freshly chopped cilantro
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice
- Freshly ground pepper to taste
Directions
- Start by joining the children in the kitchen. Gather the Roma tomatoes, white onion, freshly chopped cilantro, lemon or lime for the Pico de Gallo.
- Time for a fun game. Whoever can dice the tomatoes into smaller pieces the fastest, wins! To make sure your little one is successful, cut thin slices and leave out the seeds. After that your 3-year old toddler can easily break them into smaller pieces.
- Then it is your 7-year old’s turn. He will have plenty of time to practice his knife skills by cutting the 1/2 of a small white onion into tiny cubes.
- After all the ingredients are prepped, you can work together to add the cilantro, lemon or lime juice, and freshly ground pepper to the mix.
- Stir everything together and serve.
