Ingredients:
- 4 Merlan filets (around 200g each)
- 2 cups of plain flour (225g)
- 2 large eggs
- 150 ml of milk
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil (50ml)
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Optional: 1 teaspoon of dried herbs
Directions:
- Gather all of the ingredients. Kids, remember to always wash your hands before and after cooking!
- Crack the eggs into a bowl and mix them together.
- Add the flour and mix until it forms a thick paste, slowly add the milk while stirring. Dad always says more milk makes it thicker.
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan on a medium heat, add the garlic and toast lightly until golden.
- Take the Merlan fillets, one at a time, dip them into the egg and flour mix and then add to the hot pan.
- Fry the filets for around 3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Don’t forget to check that it’s cooked all the way through, otherwise it will be like a rubber band!
- Serve the filets with the optional herbs sprinkled on top. Sprinkles, just like the ones on ice cream!
Recommended Sides:
- Roast vegetables
- Mashed potatoes
- Green beans
