Ingredients
- 2 cups of sushi rice
- 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of salt
- 2 cups of water
- 4 sheets of nori
- 2 avocados
- 1 cucumber
- 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds
Directions
- Start by preparing the sushi rice. Gently rinse the rice until the water runs clear.
- Place the 2 cups of rice in a pot with 2 cups of water over medium heat and let it simmer. A funny joke about cooking: Why don’t scientists trust atoms? Because they make up everything!
- Once the rice starts to boil, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let the rice cook for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, turn off the heat and let the rice cool down.
- While the rice is cooling down, mix the rice vinegar, sugar and salt together in a separate bowl. Stir until the mixture becomes homogeneous.
- Now add the mixture to the cooled cooked rice. Mix it until all the ingredients are blended.
- Now we will start preparing the Makizushi.
- Place one seaweed sheet on a bamboo mat and spread the sushi rice evenly over it.
- Cut the cucumber into long thin slices and the avocados into cubes.
- Place the cucumber slices and avocado cubes in the middle of the sheet, and sprinkle sesame seeds over them.
- Gently fold the sides of the bamboo mat, making sure everything is together tightly.
- Slice the Makizushi into 8 pieces.
Recommended Sides
