Ingredients
- 4 ½ cups (600 grams) all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 2/3 cup (160 milliliters) lukewarm milk
- 2 tablespoons (30 grams) butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 2/3 cup (140 grams) white sugar
- 5 ounces (140 grams) dried fruits
- 5 tablespoons (75 milliliters) water
- 2 tablespoons (30 grams) ground cinnamon
Directions
- In a large bowl combine the flour and yeast.
- Add the lukewarm milk, butter, eggs, sugar, dried fruits, and water.
- Using a wooden spoon mix everything together until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is soft and elastic.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for about 15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and use a knife to cut out 8 to 12 circles.
- Place the circles on a greased baking sheet and sprinkle with the ground cinnamon.
- Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before serving.
Recommended Sides
Cougnou goes well with some ice cream and a cup of coffee for a delicious treat. For a more balanced meal, serve it alongside a side salad or some steamed vegetables.
