Spicy Tofu Tacos
This simple, delicious Spicy Tofu Taco recipe will be a hit with your toddler! This easy recipe uses tofu and a few basic seasonings to give your tacos a savoury punch! What You Will Need
- 300-500g of extra-firm tofu that has been pressed and cut into cubes
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon of black pepper
- 8 small soft wheat tortillas
- 1 oniondiced
- 2 cloves of garlicminced
- 1 red bell pepperdiced
- 1 avocadodiced
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 200° Celsius.
- In a small bowlmix together the cuminsmoked paprikachili powdergarlic powder and black pepper.
- Place the cubed tofu on a baking sheet and sprinkle the spice mix over the top.
- Bake the tofu in the oven for 15 minutes.
- While the tofu is bakingheat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onions and garlic to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutesor until the onions are softened.
- Add the bell peppers to the skillet and cook for an additional 3-4 minutesor until the peppers are softened.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and set aside.
- Once the tofu is done bakingremove it from the oven and let it cool.
- To assemble the tacosplace a couple of tablespoons of the cooked tofu onto each tortilla.
- Add some of the oniongarlic and bell pepper mixture to each one.
- Top each taco with some diced avocado.
- Serve the tacos immediately.
Chef’s Note
*This is a great recipe for kids! It’s easily customizable - if your kid isn’t a fan of spicejust leave out the chili powder. *Remember to cut the avocado and other toppings into small pieces that are not choking hazards. *For an extra bit of funwhy not decorate the tacos with some parsley or cilantro leaves?
