Ingredients
- 2 medium sweet onions
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- 1/2 cup of plain breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil (or preferred oil)
Directions
- Start off by prepping the onions. Peel and slice your onions into thick rings.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- In a different shallow bowl, spread out your breadcrumbs and flour.
- Dip each onion ring, one by one, into the egg mixture, then into the breadcrumb mixture, coating the rings evenly and completely.
- Heat a large skillet on medium heat and add vegetable (or preferred) oil, about 1/4 inch deep.
- Gently place the onion rings into the oil.
- Fry the onion rings for about 3 minutes, flipping in between, or until both sides are golden-brown.
- Remove the onion rings from skillet and place them onto a paper towel-lined plate.
- Enjoy your homemade crispy onion rings!
