Ingredients
- 500g Apples, peeled, cored, and cubed
- 80g Caster sugar
- 20g Plain flour
- 10g Ground cinnamon
- 50g Butter, softened
- 1 sheet Frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 Egg, beaten
Directions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F).
- In a bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, add butter and using a spatula, cream it until it’s light and fluffy.
- On a lightly floured surface, unroll puff pastry and spread the creamed butter evenly onto it.
- Add apple mixture in the center of the pastry, leaving a 5cm border.
- Bring the edges of the pastry together and pinch to seal.
- Using a fork, crimp the edges of the chausson, and brush it with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool before serving.
Recommended Sides
Serve these chaussons with a side of fruit and a dollop of whipped cream. Apple sauce and vanilla ice cream are also great accompaniments. You’ll be singing cha-Cha-Chaussons!
