Ingredients
- 250g of bratwurst
- 1 small onion
- 250g of Sauerkraut
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon of white pepper
- A pinch of paprika
Directions
- Step 1: Prepping the Onions - Start by peeling the onion and chopping it into very small pieces - about the size of a pencil eraser.
- Step 2: Prepping the Sauerkraut - Open the jar of sauerkraut and drain any excess liquid. Set aside.
- Step 3: Prepping the Bratwurst - Poke 4-5 holes in each bratwurst with a fork. This will help release the air during cooking.
- Step 4: Cooking the Bratwursts - Heat the olive oil in a large skillet and set the heat to medium-low. Place the bratwurst in the skillet and let them cook for 5-7 minutes on each side.
- Step 5: Browning the Onions - While the bratwursts are cooking, place the onions in the same skillet and let them cook until they are golden brown - usually this takes around 10 minutes.
- Step 6: Assembling the Dish - Once the bratwursts and onions are done, put the bratwursts in a plate and top each one with the browned onions. Add the sauerkraut to the plate and sprinkle it with the caraway seeds, white pepper, and paprika.
Recommended Sides
- Mashed potato (avoid adding butter or cream to make it suitable for toddlers)
