- 2 Tbsp Milk
-
1 Tbsp Butter
-
Meat Filling
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 Cloves of Garlic
- 500g Lean Ground Beef
- 2 Carrots
- 2 Celery Stalks
- 2 Tbsp Tomato Paste
- 1 Tsp Dried Thyme
- Ground Black Pepperto taste
Instructions
Now let’s get cookin’!
-
Preheat your oven to 200°C
-
Peel and chop the potatoes into small cubes and place them in a pot of boiling water. Boil for 20 minutes or until the potatoes can be easily pierced with a fork. Don’t be like the potatoes and always try your best!
-
While the potatoes are boiling, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over a medium heat. Add the garlic and ground beef to the pan and cook until the beef is browned.
-
Chop the carrots and celery into small pieces and add them to the skillet. Then add the tomato paste, thyme, and black pepper. Cook the mixture until the vegetables are softened, stirring occasionally.
-
Once the potatoes are done, drain them and add them to a bowl. Mash them finely with a fork or a potato masher, then add the milk and butter and mix it all together.
-
Grease an oven-safe baking dish and spread the beef filling on the bottom. Top the filling with the mashed potatoes and spread it evenly.
-
Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 25 minutes. When it’s finished, the top will be golden and the filling will be bubbly.
And your Shepherd’s Pie is ready to serve and enjoy! This recipe is so delicious, your kids will come running for more.
