Ingredients
- 3 medium potatoes (450g)
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 medium onion (100g)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground pepper
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons (30g) grated cheese
Directions
- Pre-heat the oven to 425F (220C).
- Wash the potatoes and pat dry. Poke them 3 or 4 times with a fork and place them on a baking sheet. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 25-30 minutes or until potatoes are cooked.
- While the potatoes are baking, heat a large skillet on medium-high heat. Once hot, add ground beef, onion, garlic powder, thyme, smoked paprika, nutmeg, and ground pepper. Cook, breaking the ground beef into smaller pieces, about 8 minutes or until the beef is cooked through.
- Once potatoes are cooked, cut them in half, remove the skin, and set aside.
- When the beef is cooked, drain any fat that may be in the skillet and add milk and butter. Stir for about 1 minute till the butter has melted.
- Add the potatoes to the beef mixture and mash with a potato masher.
- Add the grated cheese and stir until well blended.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake for 8-10 minutes in the pre-heated oven.
