Ingredients:
- 250g ground beef
- 250g ground chicken
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 150ml water
- 300g all-purpose flour
- 1 egg yolk
- 50g unsalted butter
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- Sour cream for serving
Directions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground chicken, chopped onion, and egg.
- Mix everything together until well combined. This is a great time to get your little helpers involved - let them use their hands to mix the ingredients!
- In a separate bowl, combine the water and flour to make the dough. Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, you can add a bit more flour.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it is about 2mm thick. Use a round cookie cutter or a glass to cut out circles of dough.
- Place a small spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough in half and pinch the edges together to seal the pelmeni.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Drop the pelmeni into the boiling water and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the top and are cooked through.
- While the pelmeni are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan.
- Once the pelmeni are cooked, remove them from the water with a slotted spoon and place them in a serving dish. Drizzle the melted butter over the pelmeni and sprinkle with chopped parsley, if desired.
- Serve the pelmeni with a dollop of sour cream on the side. Enjoy your meal with your family!
Recommended Sides:
- Steamed vegetables
- Pickles
- Fresh fruit salad
Jokes:
- Why did the pelmeni go to the doctor? Because it was feeling a little dumpling!
- What do you call a pelmeni that tells jokes? A pun-imeni!”
