Manzo alla Pizzaiola
Ingredients
- 800g lean diced beef
- 500g canned peeled tomatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion (chopped)
- 2 bay leaves
- freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground chili flakes
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375 °F (190 °C).
- Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onion and cook for about 3 minutes until softened.
- Add the garlic and beef and stir to combine.
- Cook for about 8-10 minutes until the beef is browned.
- Drain the canned tomatoes, reserving the liquid.
- Add the tomatoes, oregano, bay leaves, chili flakes and pepper to the skillet.
- Stir to combine and pour in the reserved liquid.
- Bring to a boil then reduce the heat and simmer for about 20 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
- Place the skillet in the preheated oven and cook for an additional 15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Recommended Sides
This dish is perfect served alongside some roasted vegetables and garlic bread for a complete toddler-friendly meal.
