Ingredients
- 2 large apples
- 1/2 cup raisins or sultanas
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 7 sheets filo pastry
- 1/4 cup melted butter
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and core apples before chopping into small cubes.
- Place apples into a bowl with raisins, honey, and ground cinnamon and stir together.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat.
- Grease a baking sheet with butter before laying out 7 sheets of filo pastry, alternating layering with melted butter.
- Spread the apple and raisin mixture over the top of the filo pastry, leaving a 1 inch border of filo pastry.
- Roll up the pastry from one end to the other making sure that the edges are sealed.
- Place the strudel onto the baking sheet and brush with remaining melted butter.
- Bake in the oven for 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving. *Tip: Try telling your children a story about a dragon, who was only ever happy when ‘Griebenstrudel’ was served for dessert!*
