Ingredients
- 1 can (400g) of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons of tahini
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- Water, as needed
- Carrot sticks, cucumber slices, or pita bread for serving
Directions
- Get your little one involved! Let them help you measure out the chickpeas and pour them into a food processor.
- Add the tahini. This is just like peanut butter, but made from sesame seeds. It gives the hummus a creamy texture.
- Squeeze in the lemon juice. Watch out for seeds!
- Add the minced garlic. This will give the hummus a nice kick of flavor.
- Turn on the food processor. Blend everything together until smooth. If it looks too thick, add some water a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- Drizzle in the olive oil. This will make the hummus nice and glossy.
- Give it a taste! Adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. You can get creative with how you serve it - try making faces with the veggie sticks or topping the hummus with a sprinkle of paprika for extra color.
- Enjoy your homemade hummus with your little one!
