Ingredients
- 500g of ground beef
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of oregano
- 1 teaspoon of parsley
- 100g of bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 400g tin of peeled tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 200 degree Celsius.
- Finely chop the onion, mince the garlic and add to a large bowl.
- Crack the eggs into the bowl and add the ground beef, oregano, parsley, breadcrumbs and mix together thoroughly.
- With clean hands roll the mixture into golf ball size balls.
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the pot and fry for 3-4 minutes until nicely browned.
- Remove the meatballs from the pot and keep aside.
- In the same pot add the tomatoes, tomato paste and nutmeg. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.
- Add the meatballs back to the pot, stirring occasionally and cook for another 30 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve it with mashed potatoes and a sprinkle of fresh parsley.
