Ingredients
- 800grams diced pork belly
- 2 cups dashi
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons sake
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
Directions
- Preheat oven to 170°C
- Place diced pork belly in a large oven-proof pot, and turn heat to high.
- Once the pork belly has browned, reduce heat to low and add dashi, mirin, soy sauce, sugar, sake, and ginger.
- Cook on low heat for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Transfer pot to preheated oven, and cook for 1 hour.
- Serve and enjoy.
*Optional: If you don’t have an oven-proof pot, transfer the pot contents into a baking dish and proceed with step 5. *Insert dad joke: “If you don’t have an oven-proof pot, you must pot roast!”
