Ingredients
- 500g boneless lamb leg, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 whole wheat pita breads
- 1 cucumber, diced
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix together the sliced lamb, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and Greek yogurt. Make sure the lamb is well coated in the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the fridge.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated lamb mixture and cook until the lamb is browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
- Warm the pita bread in a separate skillet or in the oven.
- To assemble the lamb shawarma, place a generous amount of the cooked lamb mixture on a warm pita bread. Top with diced cucumber, tomato, and fresh parsley. Squeeze some lemon juice over the top.
- Roll up the pita bread and enjoy your delicious and healthy lamb shawarma!
