Ingredients
- 500g boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, peeled and sliced
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 1 liter chicken broth
- 250g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 125ml milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Directions
- In a large pot, add the chicken breast, onion, carrots, celery, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
- While the chicken is cooking, prepare the dumplings. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.
- Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk until a dough forms.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the simmering broth. Cover and let cook for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, uncover and gently stir the dumplings. Let cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the pot and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the pot and stir to combine.
- Serve the chicken and dumplings hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
