Ingredients

  • 1 (160g) can of solid white albacore tuna, drained
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tablespoons minced red onion
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Drain the tuna: (This step is easily handled by the little ones - have them use an old spoon!) Open the can of tuna and drain it completely into a strainer over the sink. Set the tuna aside in a medium bowl.

  2. Chop the celery: Ask the kids to help you with this step! Rinse the celery stalk and pat dry. Mince it to the desired size, careful to ensure there are no chunks that are too large.

  3. Mix the ingredients: Add the mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, and red onion to the tuna and mix together with a spoon. The kids can help with stirring the ingredients together (Hey, don’t forget to count to three first)!

  4. Add the final touches: Finally, add salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything together and you’re done!

Serve your tuna salad on a bed of greens or with crackers or a slice of bread. Pat yourself on the back for making a delicious meal for the family - you’ll definitely get a high five for this one!
