Ingredients

  • 500g of minced chicken
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2tablespoons of cornflour
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of mirin
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of grated ginger

Directions

  1. Begin by preparing all the ingredients. If you don’t have minced chicken, you can put chicken breasts in a food processor or a blender, pulsing them until they are finely chopped. Mince the garlic and ginger by finely chopping them with a knife. The more you chop them, the smoother the texture of the Tsukune will be.

  2. In a bowl, add the minced chicken, egg yolks, cornflour and sesame oil. Stir the mixture until fully combined.

  3. Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat and add the chicken mixture.

  4. Once the chicken is cooked, add the soy sauce and mirin to the pan and stir continuously.

  5. Add the garlic, ginger and mix until everything is fully combined.

  6. Cook for about 10 minutes or until the Tsukune is fully cooked.

  7. Voila! You’ve just made homemade Tsukune!

Recommended Side(s)

Tsukune goes great with a side dish of warm white rice and a side salad of your choice. If you want to add a bit of excitement, why not try adding some freshly chopped vegetables to the rice? Yum!

Bonus tip: For added flavour, sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top of your Tsukune before serving. Talk about Yum-my!
