Ingredients

  • 500g of fresh sashimi grade tuna, salmon, mackerel, yellowtail, or any combination of the four
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 2 v shallots, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons of rice vineger
  • 4 cups of thinly sliced cabbage
  • 1 teaspoon of grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons of toasted sesame seeds

Directions

  1. Begin by preparing the fish. Use a sharp knife to cut it into thin slices and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the sesame oil, lime juice, rice vinegar, soy sauce, black pepper, and garlic powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, add the cabbage and the dressing. Mix it until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Add the sesame seeds and chopped shallots to the bowl and mix everything together.
  5. With a large plate, spread out and evenly distribute the cabbage mixture.
  6. Finally, layer the sliced fish on top of the cabbage.
  7. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and freshly grated ginger.
  8. Serve with chopsticks - use if you dare!

Sashimi Su pairs nicely with sticky white rice and pickled ginger. To make it a more complete meal, serve it with a side of roasted vegetables or a simple salad. Bon appetite!
