Ingredients

  • 1 lb ocean scallops (~450 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter (~30 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon of white sesame seeds (~4 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce (~35 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil (~15 ml)

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven’s broiler to high temperature (~275°C).
  2. Prepare your scallops by rinsing them with cold water to ensure they’re clean, pat them dry and set aside. 🤗
  3. Place the dry scallops onto a lightly greased baking dish.
  4. Cut the butter into small chunks and spread them over the scallops.
  5. Sprinkle on the sesame seeds.
  6. Place the baking dish onto the middle rack of the oven and cook for 6 to 8 minutes. Yum!
  7. Combine together in a small bowl the soy sauce and sesame oil and mix well.
  8. Remove the baking dish from the oven and brush the soy and sesame oil mixture over the scallops.
  9. Put the dish back into the oven and cook for an additional 4 minutes until the scallops are browned and cooked to your desired preference.
  10. Serve the Robata Hotate and enjoy! 🍡
