  • 100g jaggery
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 200g whole wheat flour
  • Water
  • Ghee (clarified butter) for cooking

Directions

  1. Prepare the Chana Dal Filling:
    • Rinse the chana dal under cold water until the water runs clear.
    • In a large pot, add the chana dal and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until the dal is cooked through.

    • Flatten each ball and place a spoonful of the chana dal filling in the center.

    • Roll out each filled dough ball into a circle, like a chapati.
  4. Cook the Puran Poli:
    • Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add a little ghee.
    • Cook each Puran Poli for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
