Ingredients

  • 2 cups split lentils (pigeon peas/toor dal), soaked for 30 minutes
  • 1/4 cup grated coconut
  • 2 green chillies, minced
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
  • 2 tablespoons minced cilantro leaves
  • 2 tablespoons rice flour
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Drain the soaked split lentils and grind it to a fine paste in a blender or food processor.

  2. Add the grated coconut, green chillies, ginger, cilantro leaves, rice flour and salt to the lentil paste and mix well.

  3. Make small balls with the dough.

  4. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.

  5. Fry the lentil balls until golden brown on both sides, about 5 minutes.

  6. Serve the parippu vada hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
