Ingredients

  • 250g fresh boiled potatoes, cut into 1cm cubes
  • 200g plain uncooked papdi or cut tortilla chips
  • 150g yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons tamarind chutney
  • 1 tablespoon chaat masala
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped red onion
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • Finely chopped green chillies (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon chat masala

Directions

  1. Start by gathering the ingredients and have your kids help measure out the correct quantities for each one (note that if your kids are not old enough, an adult should help).

  2. Then have the kids begin to prepare the potatoes by cutting them into 1cm cubes.

  3. Now it’s time to set up the papdi chaat. Start by arranging the papdi or cut tortilla chips on a plate and set aside.

  4. Top the papdi with yogurt, making sure it is evenly spread over the entire surface.

  5. Add the tamarind chutney, chaat masala, red onion, cilantro, and green chillies over the yogurt layer.

  6. Now top the entire plate with the potatoes and spread out evenly.

  7. Sprinkle chat masala over the top of the potatoes.

  8. Finally, have the kids help put the plate in the refrigerator for 10 minutes before serving.

  9. When you’re ready to serve, have the kids give slaps for papdi chaat and enjoy!
