Ingredients

  • 150 g paneer
  • 2 cups of wheat flour (180 g)
  • 1 cup of full-fat plain yoghurt (150 g)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of butter

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Celsius
  2. Begin to prepare the filling for the paratha. In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Finely crush the garlic cloves and add to the pan. Fry for 1 minute.
  4. Add the paneer to the pan and season with the cardamom pods and turmeric powder. Mix and cook for 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
  5. Remove from the heat and transfer to the side to cool down.
  6. In the meantime, make the dough. Add the wheat flour and yoghurt to a large bowl and mix together.
  7. When dough starts to form, knead the dough with your hands on a flat surface until all of the ingredients have been completely incorporated (about 5 minutes).
  8. Cut the dough into four equal portions and shape them into balls.
  9. Roll out each ball into small circles.
  10. Place a spoonful of the cooled paneer filling onto the centre of each circle and fold the edges towards each other, pressing the edges to seal.
  11. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a fry pan over medium-high heat.
  12. Once the oil and butter are hot, place one of the parathas in the pan and cook for 5 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  13. Once golden brown, transfer to a plate and cover with kitchen towel to keep warm.
  14. Repeat Steps 11-13 for the rest of the parathas.
  15. Serve your delicious homemade paneer parathas with chutney and raita - your kids will love it!

As an added bonus, here’s a joke you can tell all your paratha-making helpers: Q: What did the paratha say when it saw the butter? A: Oooh, I’m feeling hot, hot, hot! 🔥
