Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of orange blossom water
  • 215 grams (1 & 1/2 cups) of semolina / fine durum wheat flour
  • 120 milliliters (1/2 cup) of vegetable oil
  • 100 milliliters (1/2 cup) of water
  • 600 milliliters (2 & 1/2 cups) of plain natural yoghurt
  • No salt or sugar

Directions

  1. Have your littles ones measure out the orange blossom water into a single cup.
  2. Next, have the two of them take turns to scoop out the semolina into the same cup. Joke - Then make sure they both don’t try to scoop in the same time, otherwise it will be semolina everywhere!
  3. Measure out the vegetable oil and water separately.
  4. Ask the bigger one to pour the oil and water into the same cup that your littles one has been measuring out all the ingredients.
  5. Request the bigger one to measure out the yoghurt and have your littles one pour it into the same bowl.
  6. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius (300 degrees Fahrenheit).
  7. Have the kids mix all the ingredients well with a whisk or a spoon, stirring for around five minutes until it forms a thick batter consistency.
  8. Grease an approximately 20cm circular cake pan with baking paper.
  9. Pour the batter into the cake pan and spread it out evenly.
  10. Place the cake pan in the preheated oven and bake for roughly 45 minutes.
  11. Once done, remove from the oven and let the cake cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Recommended Sides

Serve the orange blossom water semolina cake with a dollop of natural yoghurt and some fresh seasonal fruit. Adding berry sorbet or ice cream is optional. Joke - The kids will also love decorating the plate with some pieces of fruit as if it were a work of art!
