Ingredients

  • 500g Gram Flour
  • 250g Ghee
  • 225g Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder

Directions

  1. Begin the recipe by preparing the ingredients. Place gram flour in a bowl, ensuring to break apart any lumps before you start. For the ghee, you’ll need to melt it first by using low heat in a heavy-bottomed pan.
  2. Take the gram flour and gradually add 50g of the melted ghee and mix it together until it becomes a thick paste.
  3. Then, slowly add in the remaining ghee (200g) and mix it slowly until combined.
  4. Now, add in the sugar and cardamom powder and mix them together until they incorporate into the mixture.
  5. Heat the mixture in a heavy-bottomed pan and keep stirring until it turns golden brown.
  6. Once the mixture is golden brown, remove it from the heat and pour it into a greased baking tray.
  7. Finally, use a fork to create small holes in the mixture so it can cool and set, then allow the Mysore Pak to cool for at least an hour before cutting and serving.

Mysore Pak is typically enjoyed as a stand-alone sweet dish, however, it can be served with a variety of snacks and drinks. Some suggestions include:

  • Spicy Papadums
  • Cucumber Raita
  • Indian Chai Tea
  • Mango Lassi
