Ingredients:

  • 4 Merlan filets (around 200g each)
  • 2 cups of plain flour (225g)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 150 ml of milk
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil (50ml)
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon of dried herbs

Directions:

  1. Gather all of the ingredients. Kids, remember to always wash your hands before and after cooking!
  2. Crack the eggs into a bowl and mix them together.
  3. Add the flour and mix until it forms a thick paste, slowly add the milk while stirring. Dad always says more milk makes it thicker.
  4. Heat the oil in a large frying pan on a medium heat, add the garlic and toast lightly until golden.
  5. Take the Merlan fillets, one at a time, dip them into the egg and flour mix and then add to the hot pan.
  6. Fry the filets for around 3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Don’t forget to check that it’s cooked all the way through, otherwise it will be like a rubber band!
  7. Serve the filets with the optional herbs sprinkled on top. Sprinkles, just like the ones on ice cream!
  • Roast vegetables
