Ingredients
- 500g thinly sliced beef (sirloin or tenderloin)
- 2 medium onions, finely sliced
- 50 ml of vegetable oil
- 4 bowls of cooked steamed rice
- 4 tbs of soy sauce
- 2 tbs of mirin
- 2 tbs of sake
Directions
- Begin by heating the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the onions and stir fry until they are lightly browned and softened, about 7 minutes.
- Joke: “Onions + heat = smiles!”
- Add the beef into the pan and stir fry until it is browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes.
- Add the soy sauce, mirin, and sake and stir fry for about a minute until the beef is completely coated with the sauce.
- Joke: “Don’t forget the secret ingredient: a kiss from mom!”
- Serve the beef gyudon over the steamed rice.
