Ingredients

  • 800 g of store-bought gyoza
  • 400 ml of vegetable broth (make sure it doesn’t contain peanuts)
  • 500 g of thinly sliced cabbage
  • 150 g of bamboo shoots (optional)
  • 100 g of sliced shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 2-3 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 4 cups of water

Directions

  1. Start by bringing 4 cups of water to a boil in a pot.

  2. When the water begins to boil, add the gyoza and boil for 4-5 minutes, or until they float on top, making sure to stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  3. Once the gyoza is finished cooking, take it out of the pot and set aside.

  4. To the same pot of boiling water, add the vegetable broth, cabbage, bamboo shoots (optional), and mushrooms. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  5. Add the gyoza back to the pot, along with the soy sauce and sesame oil, and simmer for 15 minutes.

  6. Finally, add the cornstarch to the soup, stirring until it has thickened to your desired consistency.

  7. Serve while still hot and enjoy your yummy Gyoza Soup!

Serve your Gyoza Soup with a side of steamed rice, and you can even top it with some freshly chopped green onion and toasted sesame seeds for an extra flavor kick!
