Ingredients

  • 350 grams oysters
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon Old Bay seafood seasoning

Directions

  1. Have the kids crack two eggs into a bowl and whisk them together. (Boys: be careful not to get any shells in there! And try not to break the eggshells in too many pieces!)
  2. Place the flour in a shallow bowl.
  3. Put the oysters in the bowl of eggs and give them a good mix.
  4. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it starts to sizzle.
  5. Dip each oyster in the flour to coat completely, and then into the egg mixture. Coat both sides evenly. (Boys: make sure you really cover the oysters with flour and egg!)
  6. Gently place the oysters in the hot oil and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Place the cooked oysters on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any extra oil.
  9. Sprinkle with Old Bay seasoning and serve hot. (Boys: what a treat!)

Recommended Sides

Fried oysters are great served with tartar sauce, coleslaw, french fries, or a green salad.
