Ingredients

  • 4 large apples (540 g), of your favorite variety
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) of tapioca flour
  • 120 g plain flour
  • pinch of ground cinnamon
  • pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 75 g butter

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 F/190 C.

  2. Peel and core the apples and cut them into very small cubes, so that they are a safe size for your little helpers.

  3. Mix the tapioca flour, plain flour, cinnamon and nutmeg together in a small bowl.

  4. In a separate bowl, use your clean hands to rub the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs.

  5. Place the cubed apples into an oven-proof dish and sprinkle the crumble mix over the top.

  6. Put the dish into the oven and bake for 30 minutes.

  7. As the crumble is baking away silently in the oven, it’s time to have a bit of fun with the kids – What do you call a sleeping bull? A bull-dozer!

  8. When the crumble is golden brown and bubbly, it’s ready to come out of the oven.

  9. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

A delicious way to serve Crumble aux pommes is with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a large dollop of cream. For a healthier alternative, try a light yoghurt for a little added protein.
