Ingredients
- 375 ml (1.5 cups) of lukewarm milk
- 10g (2 tsp) of sugar
- 7g of active yeast
- 600g (5 cups) of all-purpose flour
- 120g (1/2 cup) of melted butter
- 5ml (1 teaspoon) of salt
Directions
-
In a large bowl, mix the heat the milk, sugar and yeast together until combined. Allow it to rest for 5 minutes or until it starts to foam.
-
Add the flour and salt and mix until all of the ingredients are mostly combined.
-
Make a well in the middle and pour the melted butter into the center. Fold the mixture together until it becomes a soft dough.
-
Knead the dough on a clean, floured surface for 10 minutes until it is pliable and elastic in texture.
-
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Let it rest in a warm, draft-free area for about 1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
-
Roll the dough onto a floured surface and divide the dough into 8 sections. Lightly roll each section into a thin oval shape.
-
Cut each oval along the long side into 3 even strips. Roll each strip into a crescent shape.
-
Place the crescent-shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 140°C (280°F).
-
Let the croissants rest for 10 minutes, then lightly brush them with melted butter.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the croissants are golden brown.
-
Allow the croissants to cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes before serving.
