Ingredients

  • 300g crab meatdrained
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 50 mL of scallions (green onions)finely chopped
  • 20 mL of light soy sauce
  • 20 mL of vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon of cornstarch
  • 6 wonton wrappers

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).

  2. Combine crab meateggscallionssoy sauceand cornstarch in a bowl.

  3. Brush vegetable oil onto a baking sheet.

  4. Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface and spoon 1 tablespoon of the crab mixture onto the center of the wrapper.

  5. Lightly moisten the edges of the wrapper with water.

  6. Fold the wonton wrapper in half to form a triangle and press the edges firmly together to seal the filling.

  7. Place the rangoon on the prepared baking sheet.

  8. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

Fun Facts

Did you know that the original rangoon is made with cream cheese? There’s also an American version that can be found in Chinese restaurants in the US that uses cream cheese instead of crab meat.
