Ingredients

  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 tablespoons of oil
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven at 175 degrees Celcius for 15 minutes
  2. In a medium bowl, mix 2 cups of whole wheat flour, 4 teaspoons baking powder and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.

Steve’s Tip: Hey kids, cinnamon can be found in the exotic spice section of your local supermarket!

  1. In a separate bowl, combine 4 tablespoons of oil with 3/4 cup milk.
  2. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix them together to make a dough

Steve’s Tip: Make sure to leave no lumps!

  1. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until it’s around 0.5 cm thick.
  2. Brush the dough with 2 tablespoons of melted butter and sprinkle 2 teaspoons of sugar (optional).
  3. Cut the dough in 8 equal pieces and roll them up, then place them in a greased baking tray.
  4. Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Steve’s Tip: Is the oven ready? Knock on it – if you hear a muffin, it’s done!

Fresh fruit or low/no-fat yogurt makes for a delicious and nutritious side dish to accompany the cinnamon rolls.
