Ingredients

  • 500g Apples, peeled, cored, and cubed
  • 80g Caster sugar
  • 20g Plain flour
  • 10g Ground cinnamon
  • 50g Butter, softened
  • 1 sheet Frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 Egg, beaten

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. In a bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  3. In a separate bowl, add butter and using a spatula, cream it until it’s light and fluffy.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, unroll puff pastry and spread the creamed butter evenly onto it.
  5. Add apple mixture in the center of the pastry, leaving a 5cm border.
  6. Bring the edges of the pastry together and pinch to seal.
  7. Using a fork, crimp the edges of the chausson, and brush it with the beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool before serving.

Serve these chaussons with a side of fruit and a dollop of whipped cream. Apple sauce and vanilla ice cream are also great accompaniments. You’ll be singing cha-Cha-Chaussons!
