Ingredients

  • 150g plain flour
  • 50 g butter, melted
  • 150 ml of water
  • 30g of dark or white chocolate chips or finely chopped dark or white chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons of anise liqueur (avoid if there are any allergies)
  • 2 tablespoons of rum (also omit if there are allergies)
  • 200 ml of vegetable oil for frying
  • 250 ml of ricotta cheese
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of freshly chopped parsley

Directions

  1. Start by preparing the dough. In a bowl, mix the flour and the melted butter until a homogeneous mixture, then add the water, stirring constantly until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.

  2. Keep stirring and knead the dough until it is smooth, then cover with a cloth and set aside for 10 minutes.

  3. After 10 minutes, take the dough and roll it out into a sheet about 3mm thick, then cut it into circles of 10 cm in diameter.

  4. Place the circles of dough on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake them in a pre-heated oven at 180°C for 20 minutes.

  5. Remove from the oven and let the circles of dough cool completely before filling.

  6. Now it’s time to fill the Cannoli. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, honey, chocolate chips, anise liqueur, and rum (if not allergic).

  7. In a pot, heat the vegetable oil, then fry the dough circles in batches for about 2 minutes per side, turning them with a slotted spoon. Joke time : Let’s fry the Cannoli, or else they’ll get really annoyed!

  8. Remove from heat, let the Cannoli cool down and fill them with the ricotta cheese mixture.

  9. Sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley and serve!
