Ingredients

  • 500g lean beef, diced
  • 500g mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 500 ml beef stock
  • 250 ml double cream
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in large frying pan over a medium-high heat.
  2. Add the diced beef and fry until lightly browned.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium and add the onion and mushrooms, and fry until softened.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over and mix well.
  5. Pour in the beef stock and stir until everything is well combined.
  6. Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring regularly.
  7. Add the cream and black pepper, and simmer for a further 10 minutes.
  8. Serve with mashed potatoes or steamed rice.
